China’s Vision for Belt and Road

Belt and Road Celebrates Decade Of Achievements With Fresh Commitments

World leaders gathered in Beijing for a high-profile forum this week in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF), held from Tuesday to Wednesday, marked another milestone in the process of jointly building the Belt and Road.

In a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that over the past 10 years, Belt and Road cooperation has progressed from “sketching the outline” to “filling in the details,” and blueprints have been turned into real projects.

He announced eight major steps that China will take to support high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, including the promotion of green development, and the advancement of scientific and technological innovation.

During the third BRF, a total of 458 outcomes were achieved, far more than in the second one. The CEO Conference held during the forum saw the conclusion of agreements worth 97.2 billion U.S. dollars.

Zahari Zahariev, chairman of Bulgaria National Association for the Belt and Road news, said he was impressed by China’s fresh commitments and pledges. Future BRI development requires efforts not only from China, but also from other participating countries like Bulgaria, he said.

Since its launch, the BRI has become the world’s largest platform for international cooperation, and with the broadest coverage.

By June 2023, China had signed more than 200 BRI cooperation agreements with over 150 countries and 30-plus international organizations across five continents. Over 3,000 BRI cooperation projects have been launched in the past decade, involving close to 1 trillion U.S. dollars of investment.

One such project is the China-Laos Railway, which began operations in December 2021, helping transform the landlocked country of Laos into a land-linked hub in Southeast Asia.

Sida Phengphongsawanh, a 24-year-old train inspector for the China-Laos Railway, is one of many Lao people whose lives have been changed by the railway.

“The Belt and Road is a great initiative,” she said. “And I think the Laos-China Railway is just the starting point (in the region). It will connect more countries in the future, allowing us to go abroad more easily.”

By improving infrastructure connectivity, BRI cooperation can reduce international trade costs and enable underdeveloped countries, especially those located inland, to participate in global trade and seek economic development, said Liu Nanxing, an expert on international cooperation at the National Development and Reform Commission.

China-made new-energy vehicles, engineering machinery and household appliances are being shipped to more and more Belt and Road partner countries, while foreign products such as Thai rice, Kenyan avocados and Uzbek chocolates are increasingly appearing on the tables of Chinese people.

Belt and Road cooperation was proposed by China, but its benefits and opportunities are for the world to share, President Xi Jinping said.

China is endeavoring to bring Belt and Road cooperation to a new stage of higher-quality and higher-level development, thus promoting the modernization of all countries.

The World Bank has estimated that by 2030, BRI-related investments could lift 7.6 million people out of extreme poverty and 32 million out of moderate poverty.

Collaborative efforts in new energy and environmental protection have emerged as fresh opportunities and driving forces for cooperation among the partner countries.

Robert Lawrence Kuhn, chairman of the U.S.-based Kuhn Foundation, said that the BRI is sustainable as the win-win cooperation model has delivered tangible results over the past 10 years.

“Historians 1,000 years from now will look back and will circle the BRI as something of significance for our era today,” he noted.

Hu Biliang, executive dean of the Belt and Road School at Beijing Normal University, said that in a world facing uncertainty and instability, countries are urgently in need of dialogue to bridge their differences, solidarity to counter division, and cooperation to foster development.

“The significance of the Belt and Road cooperation is becoming increasingly evident, and its prospects are more promising than ever,” he said.

Trusting God in Living Life: Finding Peace and Direction

The Potency of Encouragement: Uncovering Strength from Biblical Verses

In epochs of misfortune and ambiguity, individuals frequently explore wellsprings of encouragement to discover might and thrust. For innumerable adherents around the world, the Bible functions as a eternal and profound reservoir of uplifting messages. Its verses are suffused with sagacity, optimism, and comfort, proffering consolation and support to those confronting trials. Let’s explore how Biblical verses can confer upon you the much-needed motivation in existence.

1. Conquering Terror with Faith

Apprehension, a natural human emotion, can immobilize and hamper our pursuit of aspirations and ambitions. Biblical verses continuously prompt us to replace fear with faith. One such verse, Isaiah 41:10, states, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will empower you and aid you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” This persuasive assurance reassures adherents that they are not alone, and a divine presence exists to bolster and navigate them through adversities.

2. Discovering Hope Amidst Gloom

Existence can at times resemble a somber tunnel without any glimmer of light. In moments of discouragement, turning to the Bible can offer a glimmer of hope. Romans 12:12 encourages believers to “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” This verse emphasizes the significance of clutching hope, even amidst the most trying times. It reminds us that challenges are temporary, and hope and patience can lead us towards a brighter tomorrow and golden rule living.

3. Deriving Energy from Adversity

Adversity is an unavoidable aspect of life, and our response to it defines our character. Philippians 4:13 declares, “I can do all things through Christ who empowers me.” This verse instills the belief that, with faith, we can surmount any obstacle that comes our way. It encourages us to derive power from our faith in God, empowering us to confront challenges with unwavering determination and resilience.

4. Embracing Peace Amidst Chaos

In a world characterized by disorder and upheaval, attaining inner peace can be difficult. The Bible offers guidance on attaining tranquility. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” This verse reminds us that true peace emanates from a spiritual source and is not contingent on external circumstances. Through faith and reliance on God, adherents can discover enduring peace even amidst chaos.

5. Cultivating Assurance and Self-Value

Low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy can impede personal growth. Biblical verses emphasize the inherent worth and value of every individual. Psalm 139:14 declares, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” This verse serves as a declaration that we are fashioned in the likeness of God and are special and distinctive. By internalizing this truth, individuals can foster confidence and embrace their true identity.

6. Extending Love and Benevolence to Others

Encouragement entails not only receiving encouragement but also about extending love and benevolence to others. The Bible emphasizes the significance of uplifting one another. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 advises, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” This verse encourages believers to be a source of support and encouragement for those around them, promoting a sense of community and empathy.

7. Relying on Divine Timing

In a hurried world where patience is scarce, waiting for things to align can be intimidating. Biblical verses encourage individuals to rely on divine timing. Ecclesiastes 3:11 states, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” This verse reminds us that there is a reason for everything, and waiting for the opportune moment can yield beautiful outcomes. It encourages us to remain steadfast in faith and trust in God’s impeccable timing.

In conclusion, Biblical verses wield huge power in providing encouragement and fortitude to adherents. From conquering dread to discovering hope, deriving strength from adversity to embracing peace, the wisdom encapsulated in these verses is eternal and pertinent. They serve as a fount of comfort and inspiration, reminding individuals that they are not alone in their struggles and that a brighter future awaits. By turning to these verses, one can unearth the profound impact of faith and uncover encouragement to navigate life’s challenges with elegance and resilience.
